The X (2013)

First time trying one of my Tutorials? Then please check my Terms of Use before you continue

You will need:

Font of your choice - I used one called Youthanasia

Tube of your choice - I will be using the artwork of Elizabeth Austin

License and Tubes available at Creative Design Outlet

Preset Shape of choice - used one called X Double Sharp (Shapes1) by HootyTuts

Filters:

Mura's Meister/Copies

Eye Candy 6/Gradient Glow

Eye Candy 6: Textures/Marble

Eye Candy 6: Textures/Swirl

Xenofex 2/Constellation

Ok let's begin

Change your Foreground to Black and Background to a color from your Tube

Open a New Image 600x250 ... Flood Fill with your Background color

Paste your Tube as a New Layer

Effects> Mura's Meister> Copies ... *Wall Paper(rotate) ... default settings

Edit> Repeat Copies ... same settings as above

Selections> Select All ... Selections> Clip to Canvas

Image> Crop to Selection

Adjust> Blur> Motion Blur ... with the following settings

Effects> Edge Effects> Enhance

Change this layers Blend Mode to Luminance or Luminance(L)

Layers> Merge Merge Down

Activate your Preset Shape Tool & choose which shape you want to use ... with these settings

Make your Foreground Transparent/Null

Draw out your Shape to a desired size (check my sample tag for reference)

Objects> Align> Center In Canvas ... Layers> Convert to Raster Layer

Effects> Mura's Meister> Copies ... Tiling ... change Tile Gap to 4

Rename this layer Shape

Using any method you like make a vertical Selection around every other line of your shape like so

(Please Note: positioning of your shapes may differ depending on shape size)

Selections> Promote Selection to Layer

Activate the Shape layer again ... Hit DELETE on your keyboard

Selections> Select None

Activate the Promoted Selection layer

Adjust> Brightness and Contrast> Brightness/Contrast ... with the following settings

Effects> Eye Candy 6: Textures> Marble

Click on the "Settings" tab and then on the "Marbled" folder then click on "Black" so it is highlighted blue

Click on OK to apply the effect ... Rename this layer Marble

Effects> Eye Candy 6> Gradient Glow ... with the following settings

Move this layer below the Shape layer in your layer palette ... Activate the Shape layer

Effects> Eye Candy 6: Textures> Swirl

Click on the "Settings" tab and then on the "Settings Tour (seamless tile)" folder then click on

"Painterly: Random Twists" so it is highlighted blue

Click on OK to apply the effect

Duplicate this layer 3 times (for a total of 4) ... Rename the Copy (3) of Shape layer Main Shape

Effects> Eye Candy 6> Gradient Glow ... with the same settings as above

Activate the Shape layer

Effects> Xenofex 2> Constellation ... with the following settings

Activate the Copy of Shape layer ... Edit> Repeat Constellation ... Hit the Random Seed button once

Activate the Copy (2) of Shape layer ... Edit> Repeat Constellation ... Hit the Random Seed button once

Selections> Select None ... Hide the Copy of Shape and Copy (2) of Shape layers

Paste your Tube as a New Layer

Layers> Arrange> Bring To Top ... Position on the Left side of your Tag and apply a suitable Drop Shadow

Layers> Duplicate ... Image> Mirror

In your layer palette move this layer between the Marble and Shape layers

(I had to move mine over to the Right a little with the Mover Tool as the X's covered the main part of the face lol)

Activate the Top layer ... Layers> New Raster Layer ... Flood Fill with your Foreground color

Selections> Select All ... Selections> Modify> Contract by 3 ... Hit DELETE on your keyboard

Selections> Modify> Expand by 1 ... Selections> Invert ... Flood Fill the Selection with your Background color

Selections> Invert ... Selections> Modify> Expand by 1 ... Selections> Invert

Flood Fill with your Foreground color ... Selections> Select None

Adjust> Add/Remove Noise> Add Noise ... with the following settings

Add Copyrights and your Name

ANIMATING

Edit> Copy Special> Copy Merged

Now open Animation Shop ... Edit> Paste> As New Animation

Return to PSP hide the Shape layer and unhide the Copy of Shape layer

Edit> Copy Special> Copy Merged

Go back to Animation Shop ... Edit> Paste> After Current Frame

Return to PSP hide the Copy of Shape layer and unhide the Copy (2) of Shape layer

Edit> Copy Special> Copy Merged

Go back to Animation Shop ... Edit> Paste> After Current Frame

And that's it. All that's left is to save your Tag ... If you wish to Preview it first View> Animation
